Choir Boosters

The Plano West Choir Booster Club is the organization that supports our choir students and includes ALL parents. It allows the choir directors to focus on developing the talent of our students by coordinating activities for the choir and by providing additional resources where necessary. We work closely with the choir directors, who are ex-officio members of the Plano West Choir Booster Club Board, in order to help them reach goals and high standards they set for our choir students.

In this time of increasing budget cuts, it is essential that we supplement the limited funds that are allocated to the choir budget in order to enhance the educational experience of our students. The best thing you can do is become active in the booster club. That doesn’t mean you have to volunteer for everything, but your participation is encouraged and appreciated. It takes an army of volunteers to make things run smoothly for the choir and although they won’t admit it, your kids actually like having their parents involved in some activities! Also, helping to meet fundraising goals is another way you can help make our students experience in choir the best it can be.

The phrase "Make it Happen!" has long been the mantra of the Plano West Choral Department and the Choir Booster Club plays a critical role supporting that tradition.

The PLANO WEST CHOIR BOOSTER CLUB provideS:

• Funds to help cover curricular costs such as sheet music and rehearsal supplies
• Cost of clinicians, guest artist, and music arrangements or commissions to enhance the learning process of our students
• Transportation cost beyond what PISD will cover.
• Volunteers as needed for choral department activities and chaperones for off campus events and trips. Activities include performances, social activities, field trips and trips out out of the DFW area
• Donations of food or other needed items for students at choral department activities.
• Newsletters throughout the year
• New equipment as needed
• TMEA Convention for Choir Directors
• Provides funds for the Kathy Hackett Memorial Scholarship awarded by application to a choir senior continuing their education at an accredited college or university.
• Other support as needed

 Most importantly, benefits of participation include the satisfaction of knowing that you have done your share in the support of your child in the choir.
